How the dead-zone clip cap works

Round-trip breakeven in bps is buy fee + sell fee (from your maker/taker mix) + assumed spread + estimated slippage. That same figure in percent is bps ÷ 100. The dead-zone band is entry × (1 ± bps ÷ 10,000) — a symmetric band where a flat round trip is still underwater after costs. Dollar RT cost at your budget is notional × bps ÷ 10,000. Suggested max clip is the lesser of your notional budget and max $ burn ÷ (bps ÷ 10,000) when a burn ceiling is set, so friction inside the dead zone stays intentional and size outside the band is a deliberate choice.
